“You’re so lucky, Muquim.”
I’ve heard that sentence more times than I can count. And I never get offended. But I always smile quietly.
Because luck had very little to do with it.
They See the Warehouse — Not the Nights Slept On the Floor
In the early days, I slept in the back of the shop. I missed weddings. I ate the same rice and lentils every night for months. No one took photos of those moments.
But they were the bricks that built my life.
Luck Doesn’t Wake Up at 5 AM
Every “lucky” break I got came after relentless work — through exhaustion, rejection, even ridicule. I’ve done 18-hour days. I’ve restocked shelves in freezing weather. I’ve taken business calls from hospital waiting rooms.
Call that luck if you want. I call it discipline with a direction.
You Make Luck By Being Useful
People help you when they trust you. When they see that you deliver, care, and show up. That creates opportunities.
That’s not luck. That’s character over time.
Final Thoughts
I don’t believe in “lucky people.” I believe in positioned people — those who prepare, persist, and push quietly for years before their name gets noticed.
If I’m lucky, it’s because I never waited for luck.
I showed up — again and again.
And maybe that’s the luckiest thing of all.
